Outside lines provide the connection between the telephone exchange and the outside world. The outside lines are the telephone lines necessary for telephone calls to be made through the switchboard. These lines connect the telephone exchange to the telephone network and allow external calls to be made.

Telephone exchanges can be of three main types: analog, digital and IP (Internet Protocol). Analog telephone exchanges use traditional telephone lines and have a simple structure. These systems are commonly used in small businesses and homes. Digital telephone exchanges offer more advanced features and have higher call capacity. These systems provide better voice quality and call management using digital lines. IP telephone exchanges, on the other hand, provide data transmission over the internet and use VoIP (Voice over IP) technology.

IP telephone exchanges offer more flexible and cost-effective solutions by transmitting voice data over the internet. These systems are particularly suitable for large-scale organizations and international businesses, as making calls over the internet can significantly reduce costs.
